Change management

Guidelines

1.

Any of the following situations can trigger a change to the basis of the project:

*

A new request is received

*

Changes to specifications are requested

*

A technical problem arises

*

A significant change takes place in approved work or estimations

*

It becomes necessary to adjust the current system

*

Resources are suddenly no longer available

2.

In a case like this, a formal change request should be made, which must be formally accepted or rejected by the relevant body.

3.

A change request is often accompanied by an impact analysis. An impact analysis addresses all the aspects of the project which will be affected should the request be accepted or rejected. It addresses, inter alia, impact on the following aspects:

*

Scope (and perhaps objectives)

*

Schedule (also milestones)

*

Budget

*

Resources (very closely linked to budget)

*

Dependencies, restrictions, assumptions
