the decision was made that there was enough motivation on functional,
strategic and technological levels to implement ORACLE HRMS:
The risks of the old system's technology
had been evaluated.
Developing the current system ourselves had
been weighed up against the trend in the information technology
market to implement packages.
Market research regarding available packages
had been undertaken.
Current processes at the US had been analysed.
Gap analyses between the functionality of the
US systems and of Oracle had been undertaken.
Trends at other South African tertiary institutions had
been investigated.
Lessons had been learnt from the experiences
of other South African institutions such as Medi-Clinic, Sanlam
and Old Mutual.
